Forum URL: (private)
Hello
I went ahead and followed the suggestion of one or your support technicians and purchased a custom domain link for my forum to have a subdomain URL link back to proboards. The purchase went through so I figure the CNAME entry of the proboards name must be good. We followed your instructions on the admin's custom domain page thoroughly.
However when you enter the subdomain url with or without https it returns the following:
NOT SECURE: Requested host does not match any Subject Alternative Names (SANs) on TLS certificate [38c6a12a870ccb1e3455cf49cb196b99145b1e4b10b4d098d851b9ba65219cf7] in use with this connection.
Thanks for your help.

So the URL works now but it's not secure. Could you please make sure this is a HTTPS protocol?
Also for SEO reasons, will the original proboards URL stop working after 2 weeks? The goal of creating the subdomain was for Google not to rank the forum above the website for this search term. This is why Proboards support recommended the subdomain solution.
Thanks

live4ever - The custom domain is working and secure (https). The original PB URL never stops working for any forum. In the forum's navigation settings you may wish to enable the "Forum" button, and disable the default Home button, but add a custom Home button with the website's URL, so that users from the website to the forum have a way back to the website. (Admin > Settings > Forum Settings > Navigation tab)

Thanks Scott, yes the https protocol is working now. For SEO reasons I was hoping the subdomain URL with the same name would rank higher than the proboards URL...let's see.
Thanks for your help.

live4ever - Note: I'm not an SEO expert, so someone with more knowledge is welcome to chime in if I'm in error... Considering your forum has been around since 2002 the original PB URL is going to be ingrained in search engine ranking. However with the custom domain linking, a canonical reference is automatically added to the forum's <head> tag, and so that should allow for equal weight to be given to your new custom domain. If I understand it all correctly, having the original URL disappear would be detrimental to the forum's ranking, and the new domain would be starting over with no ranking. This way it's basically telling the search engines this is the same ranked forum, just going by a different name.
