Hello there! Recently I banned an IP from my forums as they are not someone I want in my community. However, the person in question reached out to me today on discord and mentioned they were still viewing things on my forum. How is this possible if I banned their IP?

They can be accessing your forum from a different IP address.
Edit: I have my home IP address, my cell phone IP address, multiple work IP addresses, etc.

What a pain. I’ll have to keep an eye on it and see if I can locate any other IPs they have and ban those too. Thank you for the response! 😊

They could also be lying. If you banned someone and they wanted to get under your skin, they might try something like, "You can't ban me. I can still see your forum. Nice try."
However, definitely be cautious and protect your forum if this is someone you want to keep banned.

If the Permissions for View and Access are Public, anyone can see without login. Why would you care if someone banned is still viewing the forum?
I know that at Facebook, banned from a Group means that people cannot even find the Group on Search. But I don't think that is so at ProBoards.

Why would you care if someone banned is still viewing the forum? Because they were banned for a reason.

Why would you care if someone banned is still viewing the forum? Because they were banned for a reason. Well, there are 2 ways to accomplish what you want: 1. Make your forum private. Then only Members can access by login only. 2. At each board level, change View and/or Access to Members & Staff only. Same effect as #1 but more work - although there can be Board level variations. But if the forum View and Access are Public, that applies to ANYONE without login. The PB system would check for member-level actions only after that Member logs in.
